Release 010

Release 010, the tenth monthly release of drift cards in our Hawaii Drift Card Study, was done on September 22, 2003. The following stick plot shows the wind conditions for the 7 days following that release, from September 22-28, 2003.

The winds during this time were transitioning to winter conditions. During the week, most of winds were from the south, averaging between 5 and 10 knots. These winds caused many of the 010 drift cards to beach in the area of Barbers Point Beach Park. At the time of this writing (October 9, 2003), 66 cards of the 100 cards have been reported in this general area.

You may want to compare these winds to the trade winds that were blowing during the last few releases. (To do this, click a Release Number in the Wind Files navigation bar at the bottom of the page.)
