Cards Found on Maui

As of February 22, 2005, seven drift cards have been found on the island of Maui! The cards were found at the coastal locations shown with red dots on the map below. In some cases, more than one card was found at a particular location. In those cases, the number of cards found is shown next to the dot.

Card Details: A drift card, released as part of Release 023 on Oct. 27, 2004, was found a bit east of Hekili Point, about 1/2 way between mile markers 12 and 13 of State Route 30, southeast of Lahaina on the west coast of Maui. Approximate latitude/longitude: 156¡ 36' W, 20¡ 49' N. The card was found on Jan. 17, 2005 and had thin, 1-layer patches of barnacles around the edges and a few very small mussels/clams along the side.Card Details: A drift card, released as part of Release 015 on Feb. 13, 2004, was found near Cut Mountain, near the rubbish dump in Lahaina, on the west coast of Maui on June 1, 2004. The card looked beaten up but nothing was attached to it.Card Details: A drift card, released as part of Release 002 on Jan. 8, 2003, was found at Waihee, near Wailuku, on the northern shore of Maui on Feb. 11, 2003. The card was a little 'beat up.'Card Details: Four drift cards, released as part of Release 002 on Jan. 8, 2003, were found at Kahului Harbor, on the northern shore of Maui. One card was found at the West Breakwater on Feb. 1, 2003. Another was found at the Boat Harbor on Feb. 2, 2003. A third was found at Kanaha Beach on Feb. 8, 2003. This card was cracked in two places. The fourth card was found in back of Maui Beach Hotel on Mar. 29, 2003.
